I think I’m trying to do something the system doesn’t like. I initially did a return from LHR to JNB, but all the connections offered in ZRH were really short and I wanted to spend time In the lounge. So I entered it as a multi-city to change the shorthauls, and that also dropped the price by £800. Woo-how, I thought. But it doesn’t seem to be bookable, I think it’s not liking that the flights are on the same day, I can make it work if we overnight in ZRH but not sure we can do that logistically.
That's likely the problem (not with you, but with LG IT).
I've encountered the same thing. For connections, it simply will not provide an option for the second flight. So no matter what you do, you will have to choose the first connecting flight, or even pick from several multi-stop options. But never the later flight when the earlier one connects. Eg: For your inbound flight arriving first thing in the morning, you must pick from the first flight to JFK/ORD/MIA or add additional stops in FRA/MUC/VIE/BRU. So if I arrive in Zurich at 7 am, I must take the 10 am flight or do XXX-ZRH-MUC-JFK, but I cannot pick the 1 pm flight.
And if one tries to do it as multi-city as you did, it ends up in a pink-highlighted error.
