They could have said they would wait another day if necessary but want a rebooking on AA/BA and/or without the downgrade. The airline will usually assume you want the soonest possible rebooking (or cheapest for them) and don't care about other factors but you don't have to accept a downgrade.
Yes I know thanks but my child was crying and wife very stressed and did not know the rules. What I found dishonest was that they claimed there was no BA premium economy seats available by any route. I called the Executive club and they found a route immediately going UA from BJ X to HOU then BA in premium to LHR and home to GVA on BA. So it seems AA wanted us to travel UA in the middle separated economy seats all the way as cheaper for them. Tricking my wife into accepting it with a lie. Great Oneworld partner for BA!
