If JL is not making connecting flights from TYO onward to other Asian destinations available, blame JL for that, not AA. But if you hold a 60K award flight itinerary to TYO, you can always call AA and ask if they are able to add on a TYO-Japan/Korea segment for no additional mileage. Other Asian destinations would cost 70K AAdvantage miles in Business.
