Flew AA 297 from LAX to HNL yesterday evening and it was a pleasant flight with an unexpected happening. We boarded about 45 minutes prior to our scheduled departure. A full PDB service was offered but I declined any liquid refreshment. Pushback from the gate occurred about 8 minutes later than our scheduled departure time of 6:22 PM. We then taxied to the north runway for departure. However, when the pilot started our takeoff roll, he immediately rejected the takeoff about 5 seconds later. I fly a lot, and this is only the third time I have experienced a rejected takeoff. At any rate, the captain got on the PA and announced that one of the cockpit windows had not been fully closed and that we were going to get back in line for another shot at takeoff. That piece of news was a relief because I had immediately imagined a rather lengthy mechanical delay. Needless to say, the second attempt at takeoff was successful and this little episode only delayed our arrival in Honolulu by twenty minutes. The remainder of the flight proceeded uneventfully and quite pleasantly. Dinner was served about one hour into the flight and it was very tasty. I had preselected the short ribs with mac and cheese for my main course and it was actually quite good as was the shrimp appetizer. For dessert I chose the warm pineapple upside down cake, and it was really good. Highly recommend that dessert choice if it ever appears on the menu. My apologies for taking a bite of the cake before I remembered to grab a photo of it!
