I mentioned this in the China thread, but EU - China airfares and schedules have normalised. Back to 800-1100 EUR A/R TTC between major hubs like CDG and FRA and Shanghai/Canton/Peking.

So likely the political limitations are the reasoning for the high airfares you guys are seeing.
