Apologies if already posted elsewhere. Just received an email from Amex notifying about a number of changes to the BAPP Amex card agreement and the rewards T&Cs, effective 02 October 2023
The key changes to the card agreement (from their email) are [my bold, except for the word "never" in the point about them never asking for personal info]
----
Changes to your card agreement
We’ll make your terms and conditions clearer and easier to understand. We’ll also make these changes:
- we’ll remove the clause that says we’ll give you a pro-rata refund on any remaining cardmembership fees if the account is closed
- you can add no more than five supplementary cardmembers to your account and we’ll clarify the meaning of a supplementary cardmember
- your residential address for your account must be an address in the United Kingdom
- payments must be made from a personal account in your own name
- we‘ll clarify that we will never contact you and ask for the following: your full card number, your physical card, your full card PIN number or the password for your American Express online services
- we’ll clarify that the card is for personal use and not to be used for business purposes
- we’ll add information about Instalment Plans to your card agreement, this is an option we may offer you in the future and would allow you to repay a part of the amount you owe by fixed monthly payments over a set number of months. Your card agreement will provide more information on what an Instalment Plan is and how it would operate

Appears to be a clampdown of some kind on card churning (I don't do this, so no expertise on the subject) and the use of the card for business expenses, which no doubt generate a lot of Avios. Not sure how they intend to define and police that one, I use the card occasionally for some business expenses but they are only a subset of my spend and would often be indistinguishable from similar personal expenses, eg flights booked with BA, taxis, restaurant meals. I have not read the detailed wording, the email says that the new agreement will be available to read in my account from 02 October, but also that if they haven't heard from me before that date, I am deemed to have accepted the new terms. Interesting.
There are also a bunch of smaller additional changes that are more in line with the kind of changes card issuers make periodically (e.g. clarifying how they calculate interest rates, fees etc).
The changes to the Rewards T&Cs seem less radical, though the one about how and when you earn Avios (my bold italics) seems worthy of further clarification about the detail:
