Airline prices are very dynamic, they change often, in both directions. I have two Europe trips planned for the fall with price alerts set for both. On the flight for September the price has just about doubled since I purchased. On the flight for October the price has stayed more or less the same. Last fall on an American flight I wanted PE but the extra cost was more than I was willing to pay. About a month before the flight the price came down to the range I wanted. With American, fees for better seats are refunded if you make a change. Be aware that doesn’t happen with Delta. Any fees you pay for a better seat like MCE are not refunded, you lose them if you make a change. So for American, book what you want and if the price happens to go down, cancel and rebook.
