First-time poster, long-time reader.

I'm a BAEC Gold member doing a tier point run in a week's time on a BA holiday booking in Club World (LHR-JFK-LAX-SEA-YVR-LAX-JFK-LHR-EDI-SOU)

I'm keen to upgrade the JFK-LAX-JFK segment to first so that I can access the new Chelsea lounge. Although there is lots of availability for redemption tickets on AA's site. On BA's site there seems to be nothing on any day in any cabin. The only way I seem to be able to find out if there are redemption seats available is to call BAEC. They then tell me they do not have any. I have tried the usual websites, but they tell me that there are redemption seats with AA, but not if they are bookable with Avios. As such I have the following questions and would be grateful for any help. (Flights all have BA flight numbers.)

1. Is there an easy way to check if seats are available from JFK-LAX that are bookable with Avios?
2. If available, can I pay BA for an upgrade of the AA metal JFK-LAX flight at Heathrow?
3. If I paid to upgrade any flight at an airport, would I get double-tier points for the upgrade as part of the holiday promotion?
