That said, I'd imagine it's quite likely this property is playing games with upgrades. I'm surprised they even put true suites in the pool. Bet that will change once they figure out how to most effectively game the system.
I don't doubt that you are right about this. I just wasn't aware of it. As a customer I felt it was a disappointing experience. What chance do I even have to check whether a suite is available in the right "pool"? There may be one that I am not aware of. I had no idea whether the hotel was playing games or not and I definitely didn't feel valued as a loyal Bonvoy customer.
