I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, but it doesn't match up with my experience or those of others who stayed here.
A few free bottles of mini sized champagne, some cheap chocolates, and some free drinks at the bar don't make up for the other problems this hotel has.

I stayed in this hotel and posted about it earlier in this thread just a few pages back.
The unique interior decoration and location are really great....but that's where the positives stop for me.

Most rooms are tiny and have very poor views, and/or lack of natural sunlight.
I found the service lacking....there's no one at the front door to help with heavy luggage. This is important at this hotel because there are 3 or 4 steps as soon as you enter, so you can't just wheel your luggage in behind you.
The 2 cocktails they made for us at the bar (which we paid for) were of poor quality, and I complained.
Finally this hotel is one of those adding a hidden "discretionary" service charge onto the final bill which they charge onto your credit card.
How can I exercise my discretion if I'm not asked beforehand ?
If you have a prepaid rate you will nice a higher charge on your card than what the confirmation email says.
I had to ask to have the "discretionary" service charge refunded to my card during my stay.

I do agree with you though that the Churchill is not much better.
