As carlosdca noted Customs is now touchless, you just head straight out, issue is still waiting for bags to come out. Once you've got your bags then it's maybe a 10 minutes out (if you're a slow walker), Turn right to the baggage re-check you're on your way. When you check your bag they can issue BPs even on separate tickets with a different airline as long as you give your bag to your departing airline.

AA check in is in Terminal 4 so hang a right and it's five minutes walk or so, depending on construction. If you've got a mobile BP and the TBIT transfer stations are open, then you should make it with time to spare. If not, it might be a little tight if you need to deal with the morning crowd at T-4.
