The larger question is not necessarily the cuts, but now they have a large surplus of aircraft and personnel come January.
AS will also have NYC slots that it will need to do something with. I don't know how long AS can squat on them (or just what the rules are) but that's a lot of value on the table. And historically, AS leaves places, and then cries that things aren't fair when it can't get back what it sold/relinquished. (LGB ring a bell, anyone?)
