Just booked some coach awards on JAL using both AA and AS miles. The extra legroom seats are completely blocked during seat selection on JAL website. If I attempt to make a paid booking on JAL website, the extra legroom seats are available to me free of charge due to my OW Emerald status. Is this a known thing with parter awards? If I call in will they seat me in extra leg room seats without fee?

Related question - JAL website says extra legroom complimentary for OneWorld elites + companion. If we have two OW elites and two non-elites, spread across two PNRs (one non-elite on different PNR), will they seat us together in extra legroom when calling in?
