My sis lives in CA and was wondering how tolls work in MA..... Not sure how to guide her and I said "I'll look in flyertalk for you".

She intends to travel to MA and NH (perhaps, Maine too) for a fall leaf peeping trip. Looks like there are no tolls where one can pay cash in all of MA...

1. Looks like a MA transponder can be bought online... will they ship it to CA? any idea how long it takes?
2. When the EZ pass transponder is received, should it be attached to the rental car? By the windshield?
3. If the Hertz rental car also has a transponder, what happens? Doubt hertz will 'shut it off'?

Any other advice for someone living in CA, visiting MA, NH (and possibly Maine) for a fall trip?
