Welcome to FT. Sorry it is not under better circumstances. As noted the OP's money is gone with no recourse. When flying one needs to watch/hide their valuables. Though in hindsight it would have been best to have that carry on with the OP at their seat. I had something similar happen a hut in Europe with my camera. Lesson learned.
