Alaska has control over having enough gate space that if it has any sort of hiccup that it can bring your aircraft to a place where you can disembark. No IROPS issues for EWR generally on my last arrival, and we were within a few minutes of right on time. A pilot making an announcement several minutes after landing that it would be another 10 minutes, while it ended up being over an hour, with no further announcements after the initial one was in the control of Alaska.
