Yeah, my experience with Costco/Skip the Counter has been to register with my DL#, etc. and to enter a CC after I get the confirmation email. I've never paid attention to when they charge the card. .
Since I just rented from them last week I looked at my Amex bill and the full amount was charged on the day I returned the car, so no prepayment whatsoever. I think it's always when you return the car because they don't know if you're going to bring it back late, early, or need gas added to the bill.
Never mind. I didn't do accelerate this time because I wanted to go to the counter to ask if I needed that Canadian yellow card mentioned on another thread.
