A few notes from a recent stay :
Brand new build in a quiet residential area. The district is being regenerated : there's already some new-build housing on the next block. I had no issues with the area.
3 minutes walk from Lapa Metro station. Very frequent services to the city; direct services every 15 minutes to and from the airport. Part of the path is currently unfinished and dusty.
15 minutes walk to the edge of the downtown tourist district. 25 minutes to the centre (the Cathedral), 30 minutes to the bridge. It's an easy walk, but gently uphill on the way back.
Very good staff : friendly, helpful and with good English. High proportion of North American guests.
Rooms are large and airy with big windows and effective air conditioning. Rather stylishly done, with a few over-design niggles (eg the over-complicated, unlabelled lighting controls; the low-consumption diffuser on the washbasin taps restricting flow to such an extent that its several minutes before any hot water comes through).
Best rooms are the ones on the west side with views over the city and to the sea. The east side faces a hillside of houses.
Breakfast was good, with plenty of hot and cold options. Staff very attentive.
Rooftop pool is great, with extensive views, an infinity pool, sun loungers and sitting areas. Food service was excellent value (eg good quality burger with fries Eur15, steak sandwich with fries Eur18).
Elite recognition : free breakfast AND 1,000 Amenity points (or Eur10 F&B credit) AND a nice welcome gift in the room AND 4pm checkout (which was very useful for an evening flight departure)
The area behind the hotel is currently being landscaped in preparation for a park (and, it seems, a possible 70-room + spa extension to the hotel in a couple of years time). You can watch the tipper/digger/roller action from the rooftop pool.
