I second that opnion,

Esp, with Bonvoy platinum status easy given away by Marriott via creditcards
and
in some situations easy extra Bonvoy qualifying nights stack up via extra creditcards/promo

lucrative for Marriott
&
"supposedly" lucrative for customers if benefits are delivered
......
but a headache for hotel owners with bloated elite ranks
......
a warning sign for MGM
is Marriot Platinum is more or less between MGM Sapphire / Pearl in
