The drop-down screens were removed from the mainline A320ceo and A321ceo fleets during densification to save weight.
It wasn't to save weight although that is a bonus, with the densification they didn't physically fit in the overhead rack along with the extra Passenger Service Units (lights and call buttons) and oxygen units etc for the added rows.
