I did end finding a J seat between for BOS-NRT on Aug 16 and then grabbed an F seat on SFO-HND. Will be cancelling the BOS-NRT and trying to add a positioning flight to SFO-HND flight. Found the seats by just searching AA.com every hour or so for a week and making sure there were direct flights available to avoid phantom space as recommended by skimthetrees
