Well I suppose that depends on the quality of service you get. What I can say about this SIM:
1. It has coverage in the PRC where my China Unicom HK SIM does not (i.e. in elevators and parking garages)
2. No hassling with VPNs, everything just works
3. Sufficient bandwidth to live stream Shanghai Disneyland to YouTube in 1080p
HK$488/36GB/90 days is 12GB/month for US$20/month. FWIW, that's way less than I pay for my AT&T service at home. And it has way better coverage than my other HK SIM card.
My wife was bragging about how low her cost per GB was with her local Unicom SIM, but then I was doing a live streaming test in her parents' condo complex and she tells me I can't go in the parking garage or elevator or I'm going to go out of coverage and lose the stream. But then I found out that I could have kept it going in both of those places. She also says roaming on HK SIM cards costs too much, even though it's about 5-6x cheaper than roaming on AT&T. I told her that QoS matters, not just quantity. Plus it's important to vote with your wallet because if you reward bad behavior, you just encourage more of it. Look at the race to the bottom that is the major players in the US airline industry...
