Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Classic Room using Amex Fine Hotel and Resort ($200 credit) and two additional nights using the Ambassador Complimentary Weekend night. The rates for both were a bit higher than the flexible rate. Upgraded to room on Club Floor.
How are the rooms?
Upgraded to Club Floor. No club privileges.
As a welcome gift there was a bar of dark chocolate and two bottles of spring water, carbonated and still. The glass bottles were embossed with an Intercontinental Lyon logo.
Impressive view on the Rhone river, with an over 16 feet ceiling and 12 ft windows. I was impressed with the four electric controls to open and close huge wall to ceiling curtains, i.e. sheer and blackout curtains. They must weigh a ton.
Excellent room, plenty of space, table and desk, multiple chairs, bed bench at the foot of the bed.
AC works as cold as you like.
Modern bathroom, bathtub with shower and glass shield, no walk-in shower.
How is the exec. lounge?
NA
What was good and what was bad?
Our check-in reception was professional and friendly.
Great Location, 5 minute walk to La Place Bellecour, the metro is only one stop to Vieux Lyon. You can also go to the train station with one transfer.
As a Diamond, we had free breakfast in the restaurant, really great spread, everything you would expect and more, a cook on hand was making crepes and pancakes. You can also order an omelette, no extra charge, One morning we had breakfast in the courtyard, which at the end of June was pleasant.
Epona restaurant in house, was excellent, used the $100 Amex FHR credit and the 15 euro Ambassador credit.
Brasserie Le Sud, a Paul Bocuse restaurant, is only a block away. Great food, moderate prices.
Just a great hotel for our first visit to Lyon.
Nothing bad
