No VPN needed, everything just works. Good data rates and okay voice rates (HK$0.7/minute while roaming in the PRC and calling PRC or HK numbers). The only thing missing is a mainland phone number which isn't a big deal to me.

Yes, although the issue I have with postpaid is that you can't easily suspend service and I'd end up paying continuously for a service I'm not actively using for most of the time. Would be different if I lived in the PRC though.
