To be living in Auckland or elsewhere? (are better places to live than Auckland).
What is your current ffp (or ffp's)?

Will your employer have a corporate travel policy with a preferred airline?
Etihad does not fly to NZ.
EK is a partner of QF and other airlines.
QR Qatar is (weak) partner of QF Qantas and (stronger) partner of VA Virgin Australia.

The Air NZ ffp is poor compared to others. But if living in NZ not many other options for NZ domestic travel or local credit cards, except Amex..
Look as Amex NZ--> https://www.americanexpress.com/en-n...rds/travel/all

Best (theoretical) value redemption is one thing, but availability is the key. And unknown and variable. Earn to burn is what matters if awards are the ffp objective.

Look a the destinations-airlines from the main NZ airports

Answers some of the questions. A family of 5. Will they be flying on paid tickets in NZ, to AU/UK?
Would you be able to keep qualifying for BA status, with the required 2/4 BA-IB flights?
Hi thanks for the answer!

Some answers below -

How long - "let's see how it goes" - at least a few years.
Paid tickets yes, in Y. Paying on personal account for these.
Sorry didn't understand "2/4 BA-IB" flights?

Living outside of Auckland (BoP)
Current - BA silver / Cathay silver (near gold)
No corp travel policy - I book based on best cash price at time

My thinking is I will get Silver status or above pretty quickly with most airlines if taking 10-12 long haul J flights a year, but what really matters for me is where I can best burn those miles to backhaul to EMEA in J personally.
