Generally what you see when you go to manage booking on the JAL website the options available for your combination of booking class and status. Calling will not change this. More seats will be released, if still available, at the time of online check in.
N class for MEL-NRT and NRT-ITM, M Class for NRT-MEL.

I've never flown JAL before so didn't realise that the seat selection is so tricky, I'd happily pay the exit row seat fee but won't even show me that option. Certainly frustrating when paying a premium over other airlines.
