I'm not sure if all airport locations are using the connected car services/fuel gauges but MCO is and it has me avoiding GM vehicles and checking fuel gauges like a hawk. I picked up a newer Traverse from Exec at MCO and the vehicle gauge was a hair, I mean tiny hair below F. Knowing that it's supposed to be past F I brought it up at the exit booth and asked for a printed agreement, though it didn't show the fuel level. The booth attendant was amendment that she had noted it at 7/8 and I wouldn't be charged at return. She even suggested filling up at Costco or BJ's before return because it would eat up "enough" gas to bring it down to 7/8 so I wouldn't be donating free gas to National.

I did that and I still "donated" some free gas at return. There was no charge for fuel, however no automatic credit either. The attendant in their return booth instantly took off $15 for the inconvenience and for the extra gas, and I was on my way pretty quick. I did comment that the starting level should be on the contract AND the process should be automatic. If you bring it back with less gas, pay the penalty. But if you bring it back with more fuel, then you should be credited something for the difference.
