Cars in Germany are generally in better shape and it starts with their vehicle inspection process as mentioned back in post # 153. The norm of the German rental industry as a whole is to examine vehicles closely and have tighter tolerances on making a damage claim. Doesn't matter if a renter is "experienced" with 200 days per year in a US rental car and never got a damage claim. It just works differently in Germany.

US inspection process is rubber stamping compared to TUV. I don't think US inspects the braking force for each wheel to ensure the passenger and driver sides brakes don't produce uneven stopping force.

I think it highlights the US/German differences between how a rental car is inspected for damages.
