You don't prepay at all (unless you want to, I guess, I never do). It's just taking down all your information so you go straight to the garage/lot and, well, skip the counter, and they should have your completed contract there.
The blurb on the Alamo site says:
Help make your rental experience even faster! After Activating Accelerated Check-in, submit your payment and accept the rental agreement to Skip the Counter and go directly to your vehicle. The gate agent will confirm your details as you exit the lot.
That made me wonder when exactly I did this... when I made the reservation? When the plane lands 10 minutes before I pick the car up? If it said "submit your payment
information", I wouldn't have thought twice. Bottom line is I never pay in advance, so I wanted to confirm. I am Hertz President club so I guess perhaps this is similar as it relates to not being prepaid. I'll give it a try if/when I get a competitive price from Alamo.
