You're only covered by what you charge to the card, up to $10k/person or $20k/trip, whichever value is lower. Charging $0.01 "activates" the coverage, but the dollar amount you charge to the card is what is important for determining the policy limit.
The coverage also only applies to the card member and immediate family members. Depending on your living situation with your SO, they could possibly qualify as a Domestic Partner.
where can I find the verbiage about only being covered for what’s charged to the card? I’m looking at the interruption /cancellation coverage and see it says “all or a portion of the trip” needs charged to the card for coverage but can’t find where it says you’ll only be covered for the $ amount charged.
