What's clear is you have advised the OP to pick the earlier flight... let's say both flights operate as currently scheduled, how can you say with any degree of confidence the earlier flight would be the better of the two?

I see this a few times per year across carriers. Always choose the earlier one. You don't want to watch the 10:15 am flight take off and then have your 10:26 am delayed or canceled.
