That may be OK; would depend on what they like to do. The pool is pretty small for the size of the hotel is designed for lounging around, not playing, and there is a dance club next door that can be annoying. The other side is an adults-only all-inclusive Hilton. The beach is only a sliver of sand. The plus is the location--you are right in the heart of Playa del Carmen so you can walk to restaurants and shops.

If you are planning to stay wholly or mostly in the resort, then I would look elsewhere. But, if you are planning to head out into town a lot then you can't beat the location.
