Am I the only person who finds this thread title misleading? The OP is not referring to direct AC flights.

Two better ways of referring to the issue the OP raises might either be:
  1. Why won't AC sell me a direct connecting flight when one is available?
  2. Why won't AC sell me a one-stop flight when one is available?
