I like the move to offer the route in the winter. For those of you not familiar with the terrain, the drive is a breeze during the summer at +/- 2hr 45min but can turn into an all day affair (or worse) with snow/ice and accidents going over the Cascades. There is somewhat of a way around that adds about 45 mins but that has its own challenges in the winter with ice storms snarling things up in the Columbia River Gorge on I-84.
