Of course they have motivation to add Newark, even if the westbound flights are slower and/or weight restricted (e.g. they had no problem flying 857 with seat caps for 2 years). But, it bears repeating that, as long as the air services agreement remains in limbo, the only way they could start Newark would be by taking frequencies from 857/858 (like DL does with DTW and SEA). I don't see that happening.
