If you interview at an airport in Canada you need to do that first and then visit US CBP in Preclearance.

If one has an interview at a Canadian land nexus centre- then what are the rules for an American interview?
a) I presume one can not get an interview at US preclearance centres at Canadian airports? the preclearance option only open to those who have had the Canadian interview at the Canadian airport.
Corollary question- does the US interview have to be at the same airport as the Canadian airport, or not?
b) so I presume that there has to be a separate interview at a US land facility.
questions on the US interview?
a) at a US enrollment centre- on a drop in or scheduled basis
OR
b) at a US customs and immigration facility at the US/Canada land border
on a drop in or scheduled basis?
