My passport does not work the LHR e-gates. This was only a minor inconvenience pre-Covid but I suspect it might be very bad news for me in future if queues are longer.

yup I have been told the same and not to bother even trying the e-gates. I have an eu passport too and get same result . I hope the catch my namesake soon so I can use them again
