Just back from Bali. Stayed at the Aloft Seminyak and the Westin Ubud (as well as the Hard rock kuta (terrible), and the Hyatt Sanur (best hotel of the bunch by far).

We just stayed one night at the Aloft. Standard aloft rooms no upgrade. Pool is really nice on the roof and the breakfast was awesome. Probably the best breakfast of any of the 4 hotels. Close to the beach and great customer service. Would recommend.

The westin ubud is a fine hotel but the location is awful. There is nothing around it and with the traffic in Ubud you can't really do much easily. It took us 2 hours to get back to the hotel from central ubud... just for reference its a one hour walk but wouldn't recommend that since there isn't really a place to walk on the road.

Breakfast was pretty good but we had dinner twice there (since there is nothing walkable and we were over traffic each night) and it wasn't great. The buffet was really bland which was strange since the breakfast in the same restaurant was good. The western restaurant was ok but i didn't go to Indonesia to eat western food. The third night we found a local fish place (Warung Kitanami or something like that). Took a grab there and was awesome. And the price for dinner for 2 was ....$6.

If you stay in Ubud be sure to get something walkable to central Ubud. We wish we did.
