Kiwi, however, sells you separate tickets on a single booking, so you can use their search for cases like this. But you should still book directly with the airlines.
Thanks for telling me about Kiwi -- It is showing me what I have been able to do on ITA previously (and can get results with if I don't exclude ATL on ITA). Strangely still don't see the route I can create with UA + AA if I do separate searches on Google Flights. Again, I understand that there will not be a single ticket for this trip and that I will have to be each part of it through the different airlines directly.

I have used ITA in the past to help organize the times/layovers/specific cities, etc., and not just for fare finding.

Appreciate the help.
Maybe if I have enough posts I can show some screenshots that will make more sense. Not sure how else to describe what I am looking to do.
