I never received any notification and there certainly wasn't an alternative offered. A call to the 1K line resulted in a response that there was nothing they could do at this time and that "a desk has been created to help deal with those impacted" by the cancellation. After getting some contact information from me to help "fill out a form" I was told that I would receive a call back within 1-2 days and that I could discuss alternatives with whoever calls me. I'm not sure how valid this is, but hopefully its a legit approach.
I'm hoping to get re-booked either on ANA in business on the NRT-HNL segment (since we already had Polaris seats) or on SIN-SFO-HNL (in Polaris then first). Do I stand a shot in h$ll for either one of these options? Any other advice?
Update: Without receiving the above-mentioned call, I noticed that I was now re-booked on NRT-SFO-HNL in place of NRT-HNL. This is fine if really necessary, but given that United is sending me to SFO anyway, I'd much rather just do SIN-SFO-HNL. Is this something I can call and argue my case on? I'm not sure if I should still expect the call from the re-routing desk or if I should call more proactively on my own. Advice?
