I travel every few weeks on BA CE or J and I wouldn't go anywhere close to saying BA is an 'operational mess'. Some elements of the service differ too much and can be disappointing, but it's not a 'mess'.

Flew in from IBZ last night and the service was excellent. Even better, got to baggage which arrived within 20 mins and I was first to get there (I was in 2D).
