My latest stay at the Ritz Melbourne notwithstanding, I've had good luck with upgrades at Ritz properties over the past 2 years after booking the cheapest available room:

- The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi: 2-Bedroom Garden Villa
- The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo: Corner Suite with Mount Fuji View
- The Ritz-Carlton Mexico City: Executive Suite
- Hotel Arts Barcelona: Sea View Suite
