Family members flew LAX <--> ICN in 2018 using miles and taxes/fees for Y class were around U$D100 one-way. J class was around U$D40 one way. Subsequently (2019) J class was around U$D112 one-way, and later (2022) J class was around U$D180 one-way.
Recently we were looking at booking something in 2024 and if I recall Y class was more than U$D650 round-trip. They may have kept the the mileage cost of redemptions as it was before but the taxes and fees are getting to the point where if a person can't redeem for J class, why not just pay cash? I don't recall if we shopped a J class ticket or not.
The redemption values in U$D/mile are not good for Y class.
