We were able to get a shared ride to the airport through nearme.jp for our last trip overseas in June, but they are also booked solid next week. And the taxi queue at HND T3 when we returned was something like 100 people deep. It is crazy out there...
Way back when my tax deductions were still tax deductions, I would often grab two regular taxis for an airport run. Mom in one and dad in the other. Regular taxis are everywhere and easily bookable. In Meguro going into town it depends on the time of day and what corner I wait on, but anywhere on Komazawa-dori is an easy flag. In town heading home they are falling over themselves to catch a fare. Many drivers are relying on Go bookings and calling firms can be a truly frustrating experience.
