I always have to chuckle when I hear people complain about things like food, seats, amenities, or other mistreatment. The fact is other airlines have tried offering better products but for the most part the traveling public does not fly those carriers. Years ago I used to fly Midwest Express. Their B-717 had all 2x2 seating and nice meals ( I could care less about the baked on board cookies). Every time I flew them I had a good experience. You would think nice big seats, good food they would have been one of the fastest growing carriers in America. Why connect in ORD when connecting in MKE was not that bad. Even if your destination was Chicago area (like mine was) getting from MKE to areas North or West of Chicago was relatively easy. I used to pay only 10 or 20 dollars at most more to fly Midwest than American or United. Midwest only flew to most markets once or twice a day and even changed their MD80 from 2x2 to a normal 2x3 seating as people would always choose the lower level of service and price. Why does Spirit, Frontier, and Allegiant always seem to have full flights even after their failings. I know it is easy to rip the big 3 (UA, AA, DL) for their cutbacks with food etc.. As mentioned above when Jetblue first started that was their goal to try and provide better service with TV but people flock back to their normal carriers. It was a shame that Midwest Express could not expand and offer a more robust schedule as I always enjoyed flying them and loved flying in a 2x2 seat and not being crammed in a row of 3. Airlines have learned if you want to make the most money cutting back will not have that big of an effect other than people complaining.
