First, as noted by others, the monthly 9.99 fee will not be bonus rebate to 10% as seen by many already.
Second, language was added that non-US charges for Uber nor UberEats will not be 10% rebate either. My scan seems to indicate that too many people were calling in for manual credits because some countries post charges in different ways.
This is a bummer because we all know UberOne is really offering no discounts anymore for Rides.
We are not even a year in to the two year program, and it also does indicate enough people value the no FTF aspect of Capital One.
By the way, I have always thought that Capital One breaks even or takes a slight loss before interest revenue on international transactions due to both the wholesale exchange rate and the usual rebate values.
I admit Uber overseas with the 10% rebate worked nicely.
I got the same pop up too today and I got the Savor One just recently (2nd month) so both my Uber One membership charges have been automatically reimbursed but have only received 1% cash back on them. Also the loss of 10% cashback on international use is disappointing but very much understandable. I would much prefer to have this card have maintainable benefits with some limits as opposed to eventually losing those benefits forever. For a card with no FTF and giving free Uber One membership with 10% in cash back in its primary operating market with good earn rate on groceries and restaurants, they are certainly earning my business. We will have to see how long beyond 2024 will the Uber One be comped.
