I hate to agree with you on this, but in days past when both my wife and I were GCH (not GGL) and we travelled with the kids (SCHs) then I ended up always letting her go to the GF desk first with one of them as her guest before I went with the other.
If I went first could almost 100% guarantee they would start a lecture on how I was only allowed 1 guest and my wife and other child would have to go upstairs.
