As this was not workable, we went about thinking about what airports would be best. On the 30th, I will be passing Seattle, so that seemed like a good option. He checked with the BA Baggage Team who were not too confident. They didn't want to waste my time and were concerned (maybe overly) if my bag was then misplaced in Seattle.
I would agree with the concerns about SEA. The big airline there is Alaska, but I don't think they currently have any baggage handling setup for the other OW airlines. Last year BA lost a bag in DUB of mine, as part of a misconnect I had at LHR. I was supposed to go ZRH-LHR-SEA, but ended up with ZRH-LHR-DUB-SEA on EI. After a mad dash around the airport in SEA, and not getting any help from agents at AS or AA, I did manage to find a lone person in the baggage area of AA that managed to get me in touch with someone who could track my bag. After I sent a screenshot of where my bag was in DUB, it was forwarded on to JFK, and then handed over to B6. Once it went to B6, it was kind of on its own and ended up being delivered several days after the flight to the hotel I was at, and that is what I had put on my tags. I'm not sure that the delivery company looked at anything but the bag tag that I put on it.

Apart from the pain of losing the bag, it was fascinating to track it via the air tag.

That was EI though, when it was BA losing my skis a few years earlier, I think I got an SMS and an agent was in baggage claim for me to talk with. I was in F for that flight. But another time BA lost my bag, they also sent me an SMS that they'd lost it, so I've never wasted any time waiting too long for a missing bag with BA. I have to say, BA is much, much better tracking down lost bags than EI.
