I've stayed in a few luxury hotels in my time, and when I have time, I take advantage of their shoe shine services. Up until now, I have never been charged for this. During a recent stay at a Four Seasons' property, I got hit with a $20 charge. Given my history, I was surprised by this. When they returned my shoes, they included an invoice from their laundry ticket, on which they wrote by hand the service and charge.

I'm curious, is this an unusual charge?
