This is a good clarification. I actually added the unlimited toll option at the gate at EWR. It showed up on the paper receipt they gave me to exit the booth.
It took the guy forever to do that and the AAA authorized user. When I returned the vehicle, the return person asked me if I wanted a paper receipt. I was surprised by this because DFW, LAS (I went to this station multiple times and paper had not been an option since I can remember, so maybe over 1.5 years), and ATL couldn't give me a paper receipt when I specifically asked. I wouldn't have even asked here bc I assumed I couldn't get paper anymore anywhere.
It's good I did get paper. The toll was added correctly but I got charged for the authorized user upon return (even though it didn't show as a charge on the gate receipt). I asked the check in person and he said to talk to the desk inside.
The desk fixed it. Gold desk only had one person, regular desk had 4. When I was picking up earlier that day, the regular line must have had 20+ people.i didn't know where the gold desk was so didn't notice how many were in line. It would have sucked to wait in such a long line to fix authorized user charge if line had been that long upon return.
